So, it’s been a while, huh?

Hope this post finds everyone well. I hope that I have a minute after I post to check out all of you sites and see how you’re doing.

Truthfully, very little is new in my life. Well, my step-brother got married in India a few weeks ago to an Ambassador’s daughter. I didn’t go to the wedding, but the pictures were fantastic. So I suppose I have a new step-sister-in-law. Surprisingly, no one in my family is pregnant, which has not happened since…well, since my first brother got married about 6 years ago.

Cisco is doing well. He’s as hyper and squeaky as ever. And cute, of course. Very cute. Neil is also doing well. Is it bad that I talk about my dog first and then my husband?

Let’s see, over New Year’s Neil and I went down to Nashville for the Big & Rich / Brooks & Dunn concert, which was pretty cool. We’re headed down to Tennessee again this weekend for Neil’s cousin’s wedding. I’m excited… I have a new dress! That has been the extent of my travels lately, although my cousin is getting married in Las Vegas this May and Neil and I are planning on going. Vegas, baby!

I apologize for pulling a Tim on everyone (by the way, he’s still alive, I heard from him about a week ago). Work just doesn’t allow for posting much anymore, and I don’t have a computer at home to post from. That may change in the next few months as Neil has been hired into Honda (he was a temp for four years). This will mean benefits (including my use of the Honda Wellness Center, which is just like a YMCA, for a whopping $24/year), vacation, holiday bonuses, and, happily, a raise, so maybe we can finally work high-speed internet into the budget. As long as Neil promises not to spend all his computer time looking up Fantasy Football information…

Work is good. Things have picked up this spring since a few projects are bidding. Our company has secured a couple of nice contracts for projects that are sure to keep us busy all summer, which is good. Being busy is far easier than looking busy, as I learned at Norcold.

Speaking of which, I’ve been in touch with that Michael guy who took my spot at Norcold. Seems he’s having just as much “fun” as I did. I feel bad for the guy—I know he relocated to this area for the job. I hope it ends up working out for him, because there really isn’t much else in the way of technical writing in this area.

Other than that, not too much is going on in my life. I’ve been enjoying Lost, 24, My Name is Earl, The Office, and Family Guy. This past Sunday a friend and I went and saw Walk the Line, which was fabulous. If you like Johnny Cash’s music at all, go and see it.

Well, until next time, whenever that may be…

Hope everyone is doing well! The pictures from my BIL's wedding finally came in. Aren't we cute? ;o)

Here's Neil and I from Halloween:

I know, I know, it’s been a while…

I have no excuse, honestly, it’s just that I’m not bored during the day and don’t have time to get on here. And when 5pm rolls around I just don’t really want to stick around. Not that y’all aren’t important…

To be even more honest, I haven’t checked any of your blogs in a very long time. So this is going to be a very self-centered post. Regardless, I hope everyone is doing well, and if you have a little more time than I apparently do, please drop me a comment and let me know that you’re still alive!

So the new job is going well. It’s just so different from my last job—it’s like an entirely different world. I do sometimes miss my ability to surf the net, but it’s just such a different atmosphere that I don’t even think about surfing anymore. Anyhoodle, they haven’t fired me yet, so I guess things are going well. I survived my “Baptism by Fire,” and Cindy came back and all is well. We’re working on Client Christmas gifts and the Client Christmas Party right now (blech!), so it’s a lot of candy canes and the designing of logos that are cool but not TOO cool. Gah! [shaking head] Engineers!

Early next year I will get to redesign the website. Which is in dire need of refreshment [www.choiceoneengineering.com]. The problem is, again, that it has to look cool, but it can’t be too GQ or trendy or contemporary because these aren’t suit and tie, snobby engineers (by their own admission), and they don’t want to come across as “stuck-up.” It’s a nice thought, but very hard to come up with something cool that fits what they want and doesn’t involve a faux pas such as scrolling text. Plus I have to do it in FrontPage. Humph.

Elsewhere, life is pretty good. Neil is doing well, as is Cisco. This weekend we are taking advantage of this dwindling good weather and borrowing Neil’s parents’ camper and camping at Lake Loramie. It should be a nice, relaxing weekend.

Last weekend Neil’s softball team hosted a fund-raising Halloween Dance. We went as Pregnant Brittney and Kevin, complete with dark roots, jawline acne, wifebeaters, and seriously baggy shorts. I’ll try to post a picture sometime in the near future. And for the hundredth time, no, we are not really pregnant. I was way too drunk to be pregnant that night!

A couple of months ago my good friend Lori got engaged and she has since asked me to be in the wedding. I am very excited—this one is going to be more fun than my brother-in-law’s. Simply not being the wife of the Best Man will take a lot of the work out of it. And we get to wear pretty fuchsia dresses! The wedding is in August. I’m stoked! It’s funny, though, as maybe 4 years ago I barely knew Lori. She is the younger sister of a guy I graduated with, and back in high school we played fastpitch together. We would hang out on the weekends very sporadically, but then her then boyfriend (and now fiancé) started playing softball with Neil, and the rest, as they say, is history. I am very honored to be in the wedding, as I am the only girl from our immediate group of friends in the wedding, and am one of only three friends in the wedding (the rest of the BMs are family). So it’s just a really cool feeling, you know? Did I mention that we get to wear fuchsia dresses?!

Well, it’s almost time for s’mores and hotdogs at the Lake. Hope everyone is doing well and has a great weekend. One of these days I will quit being a self-centered bitch and catch up on all of your lives.

Until then…

Ah, what a crazy week. The lady I do most of my work with, Cindy, who tells me what to do and answers questions and is generally the Office Manager, has been unexpectedly out for medical reasons. So I've been pretty much in the driver's seat all week. It's been interesting, to say the least. My brother Jeff calls it my "baptism by fire," and that they haven't had anyone cry for quite few months, but truly, it's been going rather smoothly. No majors fires, at least.

Apparently Michael is relocating to this area for the Norcold job. Hope he doesn't mind it as much as I did. My old coworkers say he looks busy all the time. I wonder what he's doing?

Having a garage sale this weekend. Hope we have nice weather. And hope we make a buck or two!
